Dred Scott

Dred Scott was born a slave, in the state of Virginia. He ran to a non-slave state to ensure his safety. When he ran away, he wanted to also fight for his fellow slaves. Running to a non-slave state gave Scott the determination that he could do just about anything. He wanted to gain his citizenship as an Ex-slave. Sadly he was an "ex-slave" in a "non-slave" state, things like this did not happen easily anywhere for African Americans. He fought in what later become know as the Dred Scott case. Fighting for his freedom and his citizenship.
